About ‘An invitation to dream’ by Walter G. Allgöwer

An empty deckchair stands on the fine sand of Ao Phrao Beach on Koh Kood. Its bright stripes gleam in the warm light of a Thai afternoon, a vibrant splash of colour amidst the soft tones of nature. The chair faces forwards, towards the endless horizon and the glistening sea, as if patiently waiting for someone to settle into it and savour the moment.
In the background, the waves roll gently onto the shore, whilst the sky is a soft blue, streaked with delicate wispy clouds. There is a touch of melancholy and, at the same time, a deep sense of peace in this scene. It is a place of tranquillity, far removed from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, where time seems to stand still for a moment.
A few people can be seen in the distance by the water, yet here in the foreground there is solitude – an invitation to contemplation. The wooden frame of the chair blends harmoniously into the natural surroundings, set against the warm sand that bears the traces of the day. It is an image that stirs a longing: a longing for the sea, for silence and for simply being in the here and now.
