The Pocket Carrier House is a special monument in the historic centre of Schiedam. Located on the Schie near the Old Lock. This building was built in 1725 with a bag carrier as a windvane gear. This used to be the Guild House of the Sack Carriers' Guild. The building has a turret with a clock. This clock was rung when a ship came in, on which the sack carriers came to their Guildhouse to unload the grain for the Jenever industry, among other things. The adjacent Café Sjiek now has a floor in use as a restaurant.
