I photographed these two young Friesian horses during sunset, with beautiful backlight highlighting their silhouettes. Growing up in a group is essential for young horses; it not only gives them space to move, but also the chance to develop important social skills. For a photographer, being among such a herd and capturing their natural behaviour up close is a special experience. Like here, where these yearlings groom each other-a sign of mutual connection and trust.
I deliberately chose black and white, so the focus is entirely on the shapes, structures and the contrast between light and shadow. The play of the backlight enhances the horses' silhouettes and gives the photo a timeless and artistic character.
This work fits beautifully into both modern and classic interiors. In a minimalist space, the powerful contrast creates a stylish and calming look, while in a country interior it emphasises the sheer beauty of horses. Perfect for the living room, an office or a calming spot in the home. A timeless and atmospheric image that captures the elegance and connectedness of horses in a single moment.
