This quaint little street has interesting medieval origins. The buildings are so crooked that they almost seem to fall on top of each other. The Shambles is a medieval street in the heart of York, with a wonderfully chaotic array of shops and restaurants. Take a stroll along the cobblestones and marvel at the crooked 15th-century houses in this narrow street. Many tourists think this alley is reminiscent of the Wegisweg from the Harry Potter books. In 2010, the Google Street Team named The Shambles the most picturesque street in Britain. With a little imagination, you can see the medieval bustle before you as you walk through.
This bicycle on display as decoration adds a bit of colour to the grey-brown medieval setting.
