I discovered this poetic, idyllic and wintry nature scene on 31 December 2016 in the afternoon hours during a photo excursion with a friend in Schlepzig, near the Spreewald.
It is a nature reserve with a small enchanting forest lake, where the beavers have their home and are protected. In the centre of the lake on the reed bank there is a wooden building to house these interesting rodents.
The cute beavers swam their laps in the lake to entertain the tourists. It was a funny and delightful spectacle.
The reduction of the colour tones into a monochrome image, which was processed with a "Mocha Mousse" (Pantone colour of the year 2025) toning, lends the photo motif an elegant, timeless, harmonious and mysterious atmosphere.
The photo was taken with the NIKON D90 camera (lens: Nikkor 18.0-50.0 mm f/2.8).
