On the shore of Lake Banyoles in Catalonia (Spain) are a series of ornate water houses, the characteristic pesqueres that give this lake its unique appearance. They were built early last century as storage for boats and fishing gear, and later used as small summer cottages. Each cottage has its own charm, with elegant arches, soft colours and a special location right on the water.
The bright façade of this water cottage with green shutters reflects in the clear lake, while the mountains and trees in the background create a peaceful, almost hushed atmosphere. The little church of Porqueres can be seen in the distance, a landmark that adds depth to the composition.
The architecture of the pesqueres shows influences of both Catalan modernism and the Moorish style, giving them a timeless beauty. Lake Banyoles, located in the province of Girona, is known for its clear blue waters and natural harmony. A place where silence, light and architecture come together in a special way.
