The Millau Viaduct (Viaduc de Millau), carries the A75 motorway over the River Tarn in southern France.
Designed by Michel Virlogeux, executed by Norman Foster, it was opened on 14 December 2004 by the then French President Jacques Chirac. At 2460 m, the viaduct is the longest cable-stayed bridge in the world, and with a maximum pier height of 343 m, it is also the largest bridge in the world, the highest structure in France and the highest bridge in Europe.
