Driving along the northern coastline of the island, these rock formations at Ribeira da Janela will certainly catch your eye.
Taken from the rocky beach from a low angle, the photo gives a unique perspective of the rugged beauty of these giant Ilheus da Janela. Because the boulders in the foreground are submerged in water during high tide, they were given a beautiful bright green algae coat which makes for a beautiful contrast and also gives this photo a bit more depth.
I came back to this place several times during different weather conditions which produced unique images each time. Here I opted for a faster shutter speed so you can clearly see the texture of the clouds and observe the splashing water of the waves on the rocks.
This photo is a wonderful asset when you want to bring the rugged nature of Madeira into your living room.
