The Banaue rice terraces, located in the mountainous region of the Philippines, are a veritable masterpiece sculpted by the ancestors of the Ifugaos over 2,000 years ago. Captured here in black and white, these landscapes offer a timeless vision, where light and shade reveal every detail of the carefully tended terraces. These agricultural structures, often referred to as the "eighth wonder of the world" bear witness to the perfect harmony between man and nature. The elegant curves of the terraces, the clouds floating over the peaks and the morning mist create a mystical, almost unreal atmosphere. The monochrome accentuates the textures, from the stone walls to the rice fields undulating in the wind.
Walking through these landscapes, you can feel the serenity and respect that these places inspire. Each terrace is not only a space for cultivation, but also a representation of the history, resilience and culture of the local people. Viewing the rice paddies from this photographic angle invites us to reflect deeply on the indissoluble link between humans and their environment.
Passionate about photography, I travel the world in search of the most beautiful shots.
