The Westlands Museum is the place to learn about the history of the world's largest greenhouse area. A unique part of the museum is the historical garden. Between the fruit walls, greenhouses and barns, you imagine yourself a gardener in days gone by.
I enjoyed myself. Took many photos that are still among my favourites. It was a feast of recognition. My year of construction is somewhere in the second part of the last century. My father was a market gardener. I therefore clearly remembered much of what I saw at the Westlands Museum. The greenhouses. The different types of greenhouses. The wall greenhouse, the A - type, all familiar. Lovely atmosphere in and around the museum. Musing, thinking of days gone by. Clearing your head, it happens at the Westland Museum.
The old-fashioned grape greenhouse, type A, is one of the types of grape greenhouse used in the last century. The scene in the picture gives a good idea of how things used to be.
Whether or not you were born in Westland, whether or not you come from a horticultural family, visiting the Westland Museum is certainly not a punishment. It's simply fun! And educational. And enjoyment...
