Drenthe is home to a lot of history, as we all know. Forestry Gieten-Borger is no exception. At the beginning of the 20th century, trees were planted here for timber production. During construction, old boulders from the Ice Age were uncovered, which still serve as markers for the forest plots today, and the boulder road you walk along is also made of these stones. The forest is part of National Park Drentsche Aa and consists of parcels of forest, fields, fens and heathland.
During a walk at sunrise, it is magical and misty over the fens. A serene silence, like dewdrops, hangs in the air. I took this photo during the walk.
