Ibbenbüren power plant (Kraftwerk Ibbenbüren Block B) is a coal-fired power plant of the German energy company RWE in Ibbenbüren in the German state of North Rhine-Westphalia.[1]
A large cooling tower and 275-metre chimney are located at the power plant, which is located on the Schafberg. This is a well-known landmark in the Tecklenburger Land. Current power station is called Block B, Block A, Preussag Ballastkraftwerk and Nike-Kraftwerk were previously smaller power stations around this location. Anthracite (coal) fuel was mined in the adjacent mine, but this mine has been closed since 31 August 2018.
