Mammoet GROVE GMK 5130-2 mobile crane.
Mammoet is a Dutch company specialising in lifting and transporting heavy objects.
Mammoet's history began on 13 May 1807 when Dutch entrepreneur Jan Goedkoop started a maritime business at the age of 25 by purchasing a 140-tonne cargo ship. It was the beginning of the industrial revolution and Goedkoop anticipated a growing demand for heavy transport.
In 2000, Mammoet was acquired by Van Seumeren Kraanbedrijf, a company owned by Frans van Seumeren and founded in 1966.
In 2001, Mammoet, together with Smit Internationale, salvaged the wreck of the Russian nuclear submarine Kursk lying in the Barents Sea. In the years that followed, the company grew to become a global leader in heavy lifting and transport work.
This picture was taken on 6 April 2024 during Mammoet's open day in Schiedam. This GROVE mobile crane, weighing 60 tonnes, is suspended in the air in the lifting cables of Mammoet's giant PTC 210-DS crane.
