Kazakhstan, Nur-Sultan (Astana) - Khan Shatyr
The Khan Shatyr, translated as the Royal Tent, is a large transparent tent-shaped structure in Nur-Sultan, the capital of Kazakhstan.
The tent reaches a height of 150 meters and covers an area of 140,000 square meters. Under the tent, shops have been built, a mini-golf, a park, a small river and an indoor beach centre. The streets are paved and there is plenty of space for events.
The Khan Shatyr was designed by the British Norman Foster. The construction cost over four hundred million dollars. The tent was opened in July 2010 by Kazakhstan's President Nulueltan Nazarbayev.
