About the artwork

Holofernes is introduced in the book Judith, considered apocryphal by Protestants, as a general of the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar II. With his army he went out to subdue the peoples between the Mediterranean Sea and the Red Sea, in revenge because none of the people living there had supported Nebuchadnezzar in his fight against Arfaxad, king of the Medes.

Judith, the protagonist of the book named after her, is a pious rich Jewish widow, living in the storehouse Betulia, attacked by Holofernes and his troops. She decides to save her city and walks at night with her maid and wine pitchers to the enemy's army camp, where she effortlessly reaches the tent of Holofernes because of its beauty. He decides to let her in and orders his servants not to disturb them at night, hoping for a long night of love. Judith, however, gets the general drunk and decapitates him.

Here's the couple, the man and the woman, naked. Of the guy the torso, of the legs, buttocks back exposed.

All in all, a sexy and sensually erotic picture.

Franz knight von Stuck, born as Franz Stuck, (Tettenweis (Lower Bavaria), 23 February 1863 - Munich, 30 August 1928) was a German symbolist painter.
