"Holland and the Silence in the Wind"

This nostalgically edited landscape photograph shows a classic Dutch windmill bathed in soft, warm light. Digital post-processing in Photoshop and Corel Painter X3 adds a painterly quality, with brush-like textures and soft gradients evoking an almost romantic atmosphere. The lone tree next to the mill and the wide, green landscape enhance the sense of tranquillity, simplicity and connection to the land. This image is an ode to the quiet countryside and the timeless power of wind and craft.

The first mention of a mill in Soest dates back to the early 15th century. A piece of land next to where the Windhound (Greyhound) later is was already called the "mill piece".
IN 1737, the old mill was replaced by a stone corn mill, the Windhond (Greyhound).
The Windhound (Greyhound) fell out of use at the beginning of the 20th century

The reconstruction of The Windhound started in April 2006. The cap was installed on 12 February 2008 and the mill opened for the first time on National Windmill Day on 10 May 2008

Advice for print:
