Rising majestically above the vast, barren land is the Teide, the snow-capped giant whose peak breaks proudly through the clouds. Shrouded in a gentle veil of mist, it seems almost unreal, as if it is hovering above things, keeping a silent watch over the ancient forces of the island of Tenerife. In front of this impressive panorama stand the robust Canary Island pines, Pinus canariensis, whose needles rustle gently in the soft wind. Their deep green crowns form a charming contrast to the blue sky and the lava-black soil of the volcanic landscape.
Here, at the Mirador de Chio, the wildness of the Teide National Park reveals itself in all its unspoilt glory. The pine trees, their bark bearing the fires of the past, defy the harsh conditions and bear witness to the resilience of nature. Their slender trunks rise proudly into the air as the play of light and shadow dances across them. The clouds that entwine around the Teide lend the scenery an almost mystical atmosphere - as if time and space were frozen here in an eternal stillness. A place where the elements unite and the hiker comes a little closer to heaven.
