About ‘Baori VII’ by Caroline Boogaard

Imagine, suddenly the ground opens up in front of you and you look into the depths. It seems as if a temple has been planted upside down in the ground with a top on the ground that normally points to the sky. The stepwells (Baoris) in India are fascinating. Hypnotic patterns are formed by the stairs that run down until they disappear…

I like to make multi-layered photographic work. By combining several photos in one image a new reality is created with often intense colours and new perspectives. The places where I collect the ingredients for the photographic work are places that at first don't look very attractive. That's what makes it so much fun for me - looking closely at 'hidden beauty' that sometimes only comes to the fore when the images are mixed.
