About the artwork

*** Attention: Real photography - no AI! ***

This photo was taken shortly before sunset. Wonderful golden light illuminates the gentle waves reaching the beach.

The Baltic Sea is a true holiday paradise: endless sandy beaches, small idyllic fishing villages, modern Baltic seaside resorts, venerable Hanseatic towns and unique natural landscapes can all be found here. The Baltic Sea coasts in Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania have a coastline of around 700 kilometres, not even including the islands, Bodden and lagoon. The Polish Baltic Sea coast has a length of approx. 500 km.

The largest German islands are located in the Baltic Sea: Rügen is the largest island in Germany with an area of 930 square kilometres. Usedom, the second largest island in Germany, is approximately 373 square kilometres in size. Fehmarn follows with around 185 square kilometres.

The oldest German and continental European seaside resort can also be found on the Baltic Sea: Heiligendamm, which is a district of Bad Doberan in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania. It was founded in 1793 and has been a fashionable meeting place since the 19th century. The town is also known as the "White Town by the Sea" due to the neoclassical buildings along the beach promenade that can be seen from the sea.
