About the artwork

The picture shows the striking peaks of the Kleine and Große Bischofsmütze in the Dachstein Mountains. It had been snowing well for several days, leaving a lot of snow. The last rays of light dip the rock faces in a warm colour. The large mountain hut, the Hofpürglhütte, is also clearly visible. Against the backdrop of the imposing Bischofsmütze, the hut looks small. At 2,458 metres, the Bischofsmütze is not even the highest mountain in Filzmoos, but certainly one of the most striking in the Austrian Alps. However, this impressive mountain is the highest of the Gosaukamm. A jagged mountain massif that still belongs to Dachstein and is called the "Salzburg Dolomites" because of its appearance. In 1993, a 150-metre-high rock pillar fell off at the Große Bischofsmütze. The scar can still be clearly seen.
The photo was taken from the Sulzenalm in Filzmoos, Pongau, Salzburgerland, Austria
