Schluchsee is the largest lake in the Black Forest and is located in the south-west of Baden-Württemberg at an altitude of around 930 metres. It was originally formed as a glacial lake and was enlarged at the beginning of the 20th century by the construction of a dam. Today, Lake Schluchsee is a popular destination for holidaymakers and day trippers.
