This digital artwork depicts a hushed, almost surreal landscape entitled "De Hoge Veluwe". The composition captures the essence of a summer afternoon, captured under a vast canopy of sky in which only one white cloud floats - a lone presence in an otherwise empty, blue-lit sky. The atmosphere is at once peaceful and charged.
To the left of the image are two large, bare trees. Their blackened trunks and defoliated branches suggest a recent fire, or perhaps the slow decay of time. They contrast sharply with the otherwise vivid landscape. From the front right, a dirt road winds into the distance, gradually disappearing behind the bare trees. This road leads the gaze into the depths, towards the horizon, evoking a sense of journey or transition.
Along the right side of the road, a vast heathland unfolds, tinged purple and green, in bloom and bathed in summer light. The heath stretches to the horizon, where two trees with broad, jagged crests rise just above the line of the distance. Their silhouettes form a subtle balance with the bare trees on the left, as a visual counterpart - alive versus dead, hope versus decay.
The artwork plays with opposites: life and death, openness and limitation, nature and disturbance. Despite the calm palette and clear summer sky, the sculpture carries a deeper emotional charge - a moment of stillness in a landscape full of history. It invites reflection, but also wonder at the power of nature.
